Kinkaku-ji

A reduction linocut of the Golden Pavilion on Kyoto, Japan.

 This print was Shortlisted for the 2020 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

A reduction print is a relief print formed with layers of colour that are cut and printed from the same block, in this case, from lino. This is one of a small edition of 12 prints, all of which are printed by hand so small variations occur between them making each one truly original.

Hand-printed with water-based, light-fast inks on Somerset Satin paper and has a beautiful matt finish. The printed area is 30 x 20cm. It is numbered, titled and signed at the bottom, conservation mounted in a neutral colour and supplied framed in a dark stained wood frame.

About Alexandra Buckle

Alexandra Buckle is an artist and jewellery maker previously based near Buckingham and now living in Oxfordshire. Alexandra says her “ most remarkable success to date” is having her linocuts selected for the 2011 and 2012 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.  In 2014 and 2015 Alexandra had two prints exhibited in the Society of Women Artists exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London.

Alexandra has a BA in Craft and has exhibited extensively.

She teaches 1-2-1 lino printing at her home studio in Bicester, and larger classes and workshops at Buckingham Art School near Stowe.

Developing her print work is now Alexandra’s main area of focus.
